SOUTHAMPTON CENTENNIAL CELEBRATION
1923 marked a time of rapid growth in Houston. The population was 138,000. Within ten years it would double to 292,000. Houston was growing in every direction and men of vision were quick to realize the development potential. One such man was E.H. Fleming. His purchase of 160 acres adjacent to Rice Institute and the prestigious neighborhoods of Shadow Lawn, Shadyside and Boulevard Oaks marked the beginning of Southampton Place 100 years ago.
2023 is a year for celebrating the growth and longevity of that vision. A year of events has been planned with all of our neighbors in mind to celebrate our wonderful neighborhood and pay tribute to those whose tenacity, hard work and foresight paved the way for the Southampton Place we know and love today. This website will help you navigate those events with descriptions, ability to RSVP, purchase tickets, logo items and yard signs. Please explore all of your options and come celebrate with us as we say…..
